The Tag of All Knowledge

Firstly thank you so so much to Cindy from Girl with the Skew Earring for tagging me! I love tags (clearly I'm a bit vain and love talking about myself ;) ). It was such a lovely surprise to see my name on her blog - made my day so it did!!

1. If you were a rock star, what items would you demand on your rider?
Definitely multiple packs of Haribo Starmix and chocolate m&m's, water (normal and water that has been filtered through fruit like they have in 4 star hotels in America) and warm cookies. I'd also love a good (free) internet connection and that is pretty much all I'd need to make me a very happy Sarah!

2. If you could afford any designer piece, be it clothing, shoes or accessories, what would it be and how would you style it? If you can, post a picture.
I think the nicest designer things are staples so good jeans, a fitted blazer, a crisp white shirt and a few well fitting tees. Kind of boring I know. I'm not sure if they count as designer but if I was given a pile of money to blow on shoes I'd definitely buy these - I love them so much I even DIY'ed my own (much tamer) version!

My version

3. What kind of teenager where you? Goth? Princess? Nerdy?
I called myself a rocker - I hung out where goths and moshers and emo's did but I dressed pretty typically but with a very slight grunge vibe as did my friends. I was a really weird teenager too (I still am weird but I was weirder back then).

4. This one is a bit morbid. If you could have any quote as your epitaph, what would it be and why?
No idea! I'm not one for quotes or whatever. I quite like "Remember" by Christina Rosetti but don't think I'd want it as my epitaph... It's a good thing I'll be dead and won't have to think of an epitaph for myself or I'd spend a whole other lifetime just thinking of something!
.....just so you don't have to go looking:

Remember

Remember me when I am gone away,
         Gone far away into the silent land;
When you can no more hold me by the hand,
Nor I half turn to go yet turning stay.
Remember me when no more day by day
You tell me of our future that you plann'd:
         Only remember me; you understand
It will be late to counsel then or pray.
Yet if you should forget me for a while
And afterwards remember, do not grieve:
For if the darkness and corruption leave
A vestige of the thoughts that once I had,
Better by far you should forget and smile
Than that you should remember and be sad.

5. What fictional character would you most like to have dinner with and why?
Chuck from Gossip Girl but I'd probably be too intimated to actually eat or say anything...

6. Tell me about your first ever make up purchase.
It was a Rimmel Foundation in Ivory - I think it was a matte foundation that has since been discontinued or reformulated. I was in 1st year and my mom had bought me one before so I knew it suited me. Quite boring but that's probably good in a way! I remember being absolutely obsessed with Make up For Ever when they were in Roches Stores in Cork - I would drag my friend along and just swatch all the eyeshadows and be mesmerized by the glitter. I of course didn't understand how good Make Up For Ever was at the time, I just looked all the vibrant colours.

7. Its the year 2020, where do you hope to be in life?
That's a scary question - In 2020 I'll be 30!! I would hope to be married/in a partnership with someone I love and have a job as a speech and language therapist for young kids with disabilities 3 or 4 days a week and typically developing kids aged 3-5, 1 or 2 days a week. I'd also love to have set up some more supports for people with disabilities in the line of therapeutic recreation and universal design and maybe look at having my own subsidized clinic for children where I could hire lots of newly qualified SLT's as interns and pay them as much as the clinic could afford.

 8. What is your drink order of choice when you go out?
I always ask for vodka and their cheapest mixer but if I had the money I would get malibu and coke or a mojito.

9. We all have a 'Dirty Sexy Crush', so tell me: Who is yours?
I don't know what it means by "dirty sexy" but I like Adam Scott, Chris Pratt, Zac Efron, and Chris O Dowd :)

Ojon Restorative Hair Treatment Plus Review

Ojon's Restorative Treatment Plus was a (very thoughtful and generous) Christmas present from my mom and came as part of a set with a sample size of shampoo, conditioner and a full size hairspray. Ojon is a luxury brand and has a reputation for having products that can actually restore hair due to the addition of palm oil which is one of the only oils that has been shown to have the ability to be actually absorbed by the hair follicle. Having accidentally burned my hair off, which has lead to a frizzy mess of literal straw at the ends of my hair (which used to be super straight and super sleek by the way) I've been trying everything I can to restore it - I was so excited to try this product out when I saw that my mom had gotten it for me (probably as a present for her as well as me though because I'm sure she was sick of my incessant complaining). Mine was a sample size as part of a set which I'm not going to look up the price for because it was a present but you can get a full size of the mask (100ml) in Boots for €39. To find out how I got on keep reading....

Untouched product

When you open the tub the treatment is actually a solid that you have to scrape out and rub between your hands until it turns into an oil which you apply to your hair.
It comes with a lid/scraper!

You leave the mask on for twenty minutes before washing it out but I left mine on for an hour because my hair is super damaged. I took a few photographs of some of my hairs before and after so you could see the difference for yourself. These photographs have been edited to enable you to see the hairs clearly. I'm not sure if you can tell the extent of the damage in these pictures, but for me this is a huge change to my normal hair texture (before the burn incident). My hair used be perfectly straight (which I hated because I really want curly

hair)  - in fact it was so sleek and smooth that curls and even backcombing used fall out really quickly, so having any pieces of hair sticking out is alien to me. Also obviously the pieces that are sticking out are damaged where they bend so they feel really awful.

I cut random ends of my hair for both the before and after pictures...

Before the treatment...

After the treatment

So I think it’s pretty obvious that it made no difference -  I don’t know if it’s because the product isn’t that good or my hair is just too damaged for it to make a difference (lots of people rave about it). I’m going to keep going with it because I have it but this is something I definitely won’t be repurchasing, seriously this gets 0 out of 5 stars....

Do you have any haircare saviors/magic spells/anything that could help me restore my hair? Let me know, I am desperate!

Garnier Perfect Blur Review

I hadn't read any reviews on Garnier Perfect Blur when I saw it in Tesco last week for half price, but being a beauty blogger and a sucker for a bargain I pretty much had to pick it up. Apparently the primer "improves the look of the skin immediately" by filling up pores, wrinkles, shine and fine lines. You apply it after your day cream and it can be worn under makeup or alone.

This is the product when you squeeze it out of the tube:

It is a pale pink which is translucent when spread over the face. It feels quite silicone-y (quite like the smashbox photo finish primer).

For comparison I took pictures of my bare naked face, my face with just the miracle blur and my face with miracle blur + foundation (this was totally inspired/taken from Lovely Girlie Bits).

As you can see from the pictures, Perfect Blur did decrease the size of my pores but not by so much that I would call it an all and out success! It did reduce the shine and wrinkles on my forehead. I haven't noticed any extra make up longevity while wearing it (although it doesn't claim to make make up last longer, I just thought it would be nice if it did). While I do think this product is worth its half price cost (€8) I don't think I'd repurchase this at the full price of €16. If you're interested in trying it out for yourself it will be half price in Tesco stores until the 24th of February.

The Blogger Made Me Buy It Tag!

So I literally just saw this post on one of my favourite beauty blogs - Lovely Girlie Bits, and I decided I'd give it a whirl! Being a youtuber and a blogger has left me with a huge makeup stash and an even bigger wishlist. While my bank balance hates me, my boyfriend absolutely loves it because he never has to think about what to get my for my birthday/Christmas - I just always have a list that he can pick from :)

1. Who are your most influential bloggers? Who are the ones you really rely on for reviews and swatches?
First up is definitely beaut.ie, before I buy any product I check if its been reviewed over there - it's a site that I completely trust for honest reviews and great swatches as well as comparisions to other products. I also love Emma from Fluff and Fripperies, Lisa from Scatterbrained blogging, Orla from Make up Over Mind, the aforementioned Lovely Girlie Bits and Aisling from Total Make up Addict. Also I love Katie from What Katie Healy Did but I don't think I've ever bought anything from her blog because she is smart and saves up to buy expensive things whereas I just can't - I'm much more of a frequent buyer of cheaper things! A lot of the time if I'm looking for swatches I just search the product name on google images -  I think it's important to see different pictures of the same product so you can see it in different lights and on different skin.
(I'm probably forgetting some other bloggers so I'm sorry - there's so many amazing Irish bloggers it's difficult to keep track!)

2. Do you buy a product solely as a result of one review from your favourite bloggers, or do you look around for more reviews from others?
I will generally look around for more reviews but sometimes a review is written so well that I just add said product to by list straight away. This tends to happen more with skincare products because you have to believe the reviewer a lot more - Caroline Hirons' Blog is a nightmare/godsend for this!

3. What's your most favourite item you've ever bought as a consequence of blogs?
My maybelline colour tattoo in permanent taupe - I use it for everything!!

4. What's your least favourite item you've ever bought as a consequence of blogs?
Nars Orgasm did not live up to any of the hype - I used it about 7 times and have since retired it - a huge let down for me!

5. Name five products you've recently bought as a result of blogs
I don't know how recent I can be as I've been under self inflicted blogger/youtuber ban for a few months cause I needed to study - this also meant I didn't have time to do a lot of shopping so this will probably not be truly recent...
Maybelline Colour Tattoo in Permanent Taupe
Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Concealer
Catrice Camouflage Concealer
Kate Moss for Rimmel Lipstick in 107 (as well as all the others I own!)
Nyx Blush in Taupe

6. Have you ever given in to blogger hype?  If so, which hype?
Definitely! It's hard to ignore a million favorable reviews on a product! Bourjois Healthy Skin foundation, Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer, Magnetic Mascara...the list goes on...

7. Have you ever avoided blogger hype?  If so, which hype?
I do tend to avoid some hype - generally any Benefit hype because I think that people get carried away by the names and cute packaging...

8. Is everything you buy based on blogger reviews or are there some items you buy without checking out a review?
I buy things without checking for reviews all the time - if I'm out shopping and I see a new product or a product on a good special offer I buy it right away, I'll generally find some use for it - even if it is just reviewing it for my blog!

I'd love to see more of these so if this is something you've done/are planning to do leave a link down below :)
